1. . beyond all contradiction the lesser is blessed by the better.
2. ..the law made nothing perfect; on the other hand, there is the bringing in of a better hope, through which we draw near to God.
3. ..the law appoints as high priests men who have weakness, but the word of the oath, which came after the law, appoints the Son who has been perfected forever.
4. We have such a High Priest, who is seated at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in the heavens, a Minister of the sanctuary and of the true tabernacle which the Lord erected, and not man.
5. ..Christ came as High Priest of the good things to come, with the greater and more perfect tabernacle not made with hands, that is, not of this creation.
Not with the blood of goats and calves, but with His own blood He entered the Most Holy Place once for all, having obtained eternal redemption.
6. ..according to the law almost all things are purified with blood, and without shedding of blood there is no remission.
7. ..it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment, so Christ was offered once to bear the sins of many. To those who eagerly wait for Him He will appear a second time, apart from sin, for salvation.
8. ..There remains therefore a rest for the people of God. For he who has entered His rest has himself also ceased from his works as God did from His.
9. ..the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.
10. And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account.
